About Me

Yoga class in Colombia

My background

 

I am a 500-hour Certified Yoga Instructor with over 30 years of experience teaching in higher education. Thirteen years ago, my journey to a lifestyle change began in India when I sought an Ayurvedic treatment for an ailment that Western medicine couldn't cure. My previous experience was an eye-opener and it inspired me to make the change and share it. Over the last few years, I have created and taught a stretching class based on healthy spine exercises. I've taken advantage of my extra time by enrolling in Plant-Based cooking classes in India, Italy, Colombia, Portugal, and online.  

In addition, I have dedicated time to expanding my knowledge through travel and volunteering experiences in Colombia and Portugal. During my time there, I had the opportunity to teach yoga and deepen my understanding of cooking with fresh ingredients sourced directly from the farms on a daily basis.

I am passionate about helping others find balance and peace through yoga, and teaching has been my way of doing so. My goal is to make the healing power of gentle exercise and a good balanced diet available to everyone, regardless of their background or experience level. I'm humbled and honored to have been able to work on this mission over the past years, especially during the pandemic.

What I Love

 

  • Family (full of love from my seven grandchildren)
  • Nature (hiking volcanos in Guatemala or spending time at my land in Ranchita, CA is a blessing)
  • Healthy lifestyle and nutrition (practicing yoga at least one hour per day and only eating nutritious food)
  • Horses (working towards adopting one or two soon)
  • Cooking (especially surprising my family and friends with vegan meals) 

Origen

 I'm an Argentina-born educator, passionate about helping students reach their fullest potential. 

 For the past two decades, it has been my honor to teach Spanish credit courses at MiraCosta College. Additionally, I recently began teaching non-credit enrichment classes such as Plant-Based cooking, Restorative Yoga and Stretching.
